Simple Podcast Equipment to Get You Started Quickly

One of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to podcasting is about podcast equipment.

Getting started in podcasting is not difficult at all thanks to the technology that makes the process painless and instant.

Although there is little issue regarding technology, if you are willing to spend sometime learning it, the problem is more on the myriad numbers of podcast gears. It is very easy to get confused about which one is the most appropriate for you.

This article focuses on different simple podcast equipment that can help you get started quickly.

1. A microphone

Get a good quality microphone. Shure and Audio Technica are just two brands that produce quality microphones. If you are confused about which microphone is right for you, you can't go wrong with one of these.

You may also need a preamp to boost the volume of the recording if the mic has no built-in support for that. Alternatively, you can use the "mic boost" feature in the Windows Volume Control application.

2. Portable recording device

Another alternative recording equipment is portable recording devices. iRiver is one product that is extremely popular amongst podcasters.

Basically, this gear is very simple to operate. You can bring this with you anywhere, including to industry event, and record interviews on the spot. If you are a mobile podcaster, this also comes very handy.

3. Podcast by phone

Certain podcast services allows their members to record the podcast via a call from any phone -- toll-free or not. Now you can turn any phone into a podcast recording equipment.

All you have to do is just call a specific number, enter you ID and PIN code and you are ready to start recording anything including your ideas as podcast.

One example of such service is Gabcast.com

With the variations that are available out there, it could lead to procrastination. When people are given so many different choices, they tend to procratinate until the choice become clearer.

This is why I always suggest that newbie podcasters start with very simple setup of podcasting gear to get them on the right track and establish momentum first before they upgrade -- if necessary at all.

Using one of the methods above, you can start recording your podcast very quickly without learning all the technical details. So choose your option now and start podcasting.
